Unlike indoor volleyball, sand/beach junior age divisions are even ages: 11s/12s are 12U, 13s/14s are 14U, 15s/16s are 16U and 17s/18s are 18U.

See the websites of p1440, USAV, AVP, and AAU to find out more.
There are 5 program categories: Hybrid, Regional Beach Development, Regional, National, and National Level Up. See chart.
Cost will vary based on which program is chosen. See chart.
Hybrid/Regional/Regional Beach Development: December- May. Summer Beach Academy shortly follows May-August.
GABeach holds practice at two locations in Gwinnett County:
Duncan Creek Park and Rabbit Hill Park
Practice schedules may be adjusted during the season due to Daylight savings. This will be communicated to all groups in advance.
Players will be placed in practice groups first by age division, and then divided by skill level/program.
Athletes will be on either M/W or T/TH beginning in December and ending in May/June.
National Level Up athletes will have an additional practice day and practice 3x/wk + 1x/wk MSC.
Attending practices and workouts is crucial for your growth in this sport. The design of each practice and workout takes every player on the roster into account. Consequently, when any player misses a practice, it not only affects the learning and growth of that player, but also impacts the other teammates. Players who frequently miss sand practice and fitness, will be asked to meet with the GABeach coaches to discuss priorities and could be moved from one practice group to another.
An athlete who plays a school sport or activity that may affect attendance will need to disclose that information at tryouts. Acceptance to the club will be up to the discretion of the coaching staff.
No discounts, fee reductions, or refunds are given for missed practice.
We will update players via TeamSnap groups if we have to cancel or delay practice start time. We play and practice in most weather to prepare for tournaments. We do not practice in temps below 40 degrees or in extreme weather, such as lightning.
Regional Beach Development: RBD athletes will only be playing in-house tournaments. We will offer at least 3-4 of these tournaments throughout the season. These are not mandatory but are highly encouraged for you athletes to experience true game play and to put their skills to the test!
Regional: Regional athletes do not have a set number of tournaments required. You may review the Master Tournament schedule and choose based on your availability. However, we do encourage athletes to play in as many tournaments as they are able.
National: National athletes have 4 required tournaments throughout the Season. Some may be travel tournaments while others may be local.
A tentative schedule will be available in January/February. Tournaments are added onto our list once the beach volleyball organizations release their tour schedules. Usually by mid-late January, our schedule has been finalized with a list of about 50 tournaments offered in the southeast region (Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Carolinas) from December to June.
The schedule will note which tournaments will have GABeach coaching and which ones will not. Regional players will design their own tournament play schedule based on their weekend availability, tournament site, and strength of play drawn to that specific tournament. We hope that Regional players will play in all coached regional tournaments and then add in uncoached tournaments as well.
Registration fees, food, hotel, and travel expenses for tournaments are not included and are the sole responsibility of the player and family.

Athletes will be networking their own partner within the GABeach roster for tournament play. Our coaches will offer partner suggestions as the season progresses and will assist any players needing to secure a partner.
We do not recommend pre-locking a partner prior to the season. It is in the player’s best interest to network various team-mates for partnerships.
**For all BVCA events: pairings will be at the full discretion of our coaching staff. These events are made to mimic the collegiate beach game. Coaches will pair all players - no questions asked.
If you are interested in our College recruiting service, please reach out ASAP to our LOVB Beach Recruiting Coordinator, Ali McColloch. This is at no extra cost and available only to GABeach and LOVB sister club athletes in the Southeast.

Yes. The tryout fee is: $40. Cost includes a tryout t-shirt!
If more than one tryout date is offered, athletes are only required to attend one but are encouraged to attend both at no additional fee.
Athletes can wear athletic clothing including a t-shirt, tank top, spandex, shorts, leggings, and a sports bra. We also encourage players to bring sunscreen, lots of water, a towel, flip-flops/slides, sunglasses, and a visor.
If you are a new athlete, please also bring the required paperwork. Athletes will not be allowed to practice if we do not have a medical release form on file for them.
Players should expect to be evaluated on skill work including defense, setting, hitting, serving, and overall ball control. Coaches also look for coachability, high effort levels, court IQ, agility, strength, and punctuality.
If you are unable to attend our tryout dates, please email Taylor@gabeachvb.com and we will reach out to you to discuss your options.

Certain tournaments require a membership to play.
Tournament bids are your golden ticket to play in the National Championships! Each sanctioning body has its own National Championships that athletes can earn bids to. AAU, USA Volleyball, AVP First, and ROX offer volleyball tours for juniors. The tournaments in these tours are qualifiers for their end-of-season national championships. Teams that finish high enough while participating in these tournaments earn a bid (spot) in that tour’s national championship. AAU and USAV are the two most sought bids to earn. AAU’s Nationals are held in Hermosa Beach, California. USAV’s location changes each year, AVP First is held in California and ROX is in Dallas, Texas. National tournaments are held in July.

National Level Up:

Travel tournaments are typically going to have a higher level of competition. In order for athletes to be prepared for this level of competition, we believe that our players need to put the necessary hours in to compete and work off of the court to increase their strength, speed, power, endurance, mobility, and stamina.
Regional players may play in travel tournaments but must understand that they may not be coached as our Coaches will be with our National athletes first. Regional athletes can request and pay for Coaching if they would like it.
Mobility / Strength / Conditioning Training with our strength partner, Peak Fitness, for injury prevention and to prepare the body to perform at the highest level and peak at the correct time for optimal performance during the heaviest competition season.
